SYNOPSIS:

For Manuel Cortes, an avid socialist, the civil war lead to the end of his career as mayor and he was forced to abandon his town. Upon his return, in 1939, when the national faction had achieved victory, Manuel Cortes came back to a town which was divided by the republicans and the repressed, who many would end up in front of the execution wall. Manuel Cortes, encouraged by his wife, Juliana and his family had to hide like many other in a hole in a wall, behind a painting of the sacred heart of Jesus. But neither he or his family could have imagined that the hole would become his home for 30 years. For almost his whole life Manuel witnessed the transformation of a whole country through a key hole, and also the most crucial moments of his families’ life: the interrogation which Juliana was subjugated to, his daughters wedding and the death of his grandson.
