SYNOPSIS:
Ignacio Sánchez Mejías. This is more than a story about a bullfighter, it’s a documentary about art and death. It is a different vision of the chronic of bullfighting about a bullfighter who was the most impressive of his time. Alongside, Joselito, Belmonte, Granero and Gaona… None had a personality so complex, or as rich a journey in life, during a time in Spain in the twenties and thirties in which he lived through the most tragic event of the XX century. There were few cultural scenes in Seville in which Sanchez Mejías wasn’t present, and few arts that could escape his curiosity: a screenwriter, an occasional actor, a pilot, a polo player, a speaker at conferences in New York, the president of the red cross of Seville and the president of Real Betis Balompie… A documentary with this visual approach about a character so rich in interest makes it unique in its genre.
Through the comments of the interviewees, his family, experts and investigators, we enter into the life of Ignacio Sánchez Mejías. An incomparable person who also had a complex life. We take an artistic approach to the most fascinating characters of pre-belico Spanish times.
